Gurez Valley
Gurez Valley is a remote and breathtaking valley located in the Bandipora district of Jammu & Kashmir, near the Line of Control (LoC). Surrounded by snow-covered peaks, lush green meadows, dense forests, and the flowing Kishanganga River, Gurez is known for its untouched and pristine natural beauty.
The valley lies at an altitude of around 8,000 feet and remains cut off during winter due to heavy snowfall at Razdan Pass, which connects it to the Kashmir Valley. Summers are cool and pleasant, making it the best time to visit.
Gurez is also rich in culture and history, home to the Dard–Shina tribe, who have a distinct language and traditions. Famous landmarks like Habba Khatoon Peak and Habba Khatoon Spring add to its charm. Because of its remote location and limited tourism, Gurez offers a peaceful, crowd-free experience, ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and travelers seeking solitude.
