Tosamaidan
Tosamaidan is a sprawling high-altitude meadow located in the Budgam district of Kashmir, nestled between the Pir Panjal and Himalayan ranges. The name “Tosamaidan” literally means “meadow of lakes”, as the area is dotted with small water bodies and streams that add to its charm.
The meadow stretches over several kilometers of lush green pastures, surrounded by dense pine forests and snow-capped peaks, offering a serene and untouched natural landscape. Tosamaidan is historically significant as it was once a route used by Mughal emperors and local traders to traverse the mountains.
Today, Tosamaidan is famous among trekkers, campers, and nature enthusiasts for its tranquil environment, panoramic views, and opportunities to spot local wildlife and migratory birds. Summers are the ideal time to visit, with pleasant weather, blooming meadows, and clear skies, while winters bring heavy snowfall, turning the valley into a pristine white paradise. Its remote and peaceful setting makes Tosamaidan one of the most picturesque and offbeat destinations in Kashmir.
